September Week #2
On week two of the game, I made it to the middle of the story and figured out most of the mechanics. I decided to scrap the idea for a built-in world timer that counts down. I think I want the player to enjoy the experience and take it steady and take in the creepy factors, as well as the fact I’m going to be writing a lot, it would kind of defeat the purpose of the timer if people are just going to skip over a lot of the lines due to the pressure of an existing timer.
What’s been accomplished:
- Figure out how to code the timed responses
- Figure out how to use different style and text colour to add some stylisation to make it a little more interesting, and add to some creep aspects. I looked up the manual for Harlow version 3.3.8 to help out.
- Use the Zalgo Generator, it’s a generator that messes up the words (another part of the stylisation)
- Learn how to add images for certain parts of the game
- Finish at least one ending of the game
What’s been scrapped:
- Removal of the built-in world timer
- Concept art (I could just grab images from the web and use it for the game instead)
- Decided to not make it a fast-paced game, decided to make it so the player can take their time for the majority of the game
With that said, I’ve figured out how to write up the mechanics, so most of what needs to be finished is the story itself.
What needs to be done:
- There are a couple of separate parts that’s been written that just need to be connected to fill in the gaps
- Make the next few endings
- Most of what I’m working on right now is to try to wrap it up, and I’ve managed to reach one of the possible endings in the game, where you let the intruder inside.
- Add ambient music in the background(?)
